I have spent most of today listening to a mixture of show tunes and 80s pop music, drawing tables of dialectal differences in versions of Caedmon's Hymn and compulsively clicking refresh on my email account. Sounds like a fairly productive sort of day to me. It's now drawing close to four o'clock so I'm giving myself a bit of a break before more work, then cooking a chickpea goulash for dinner.
Last night I went to Yo! Sushi in town with some of my lovely friends. It was jolly, and let's face it- how can a situation when you find yourself surrounded by a vast array of sushi be a bad one? I had some salmon sashimi (got to love big chunks of raw fish- who needs rice?), a California hand roll and a crabmeat and avocado hand roll, washed down with a couple of refills of miso soup. Decadence!
I have a lot more work to get through this weekend, but I feel so much more relaxed about it than I have over the past couple of weeks, when I've been busy all weekend. I'll spend a few (no doubt joyful) hours in the library tomorrow and then I should be nicely prepared for Monday's seminar at least. Maybe I'll go all out and get the others sorted before the last minute too! I hope I can.
There is sunshine today! This excites me a very great deal. I like nothing better than to peek out of my bedroom window in the morning and see blue skies and brightness. It's so uplifting.
